Christmas

Eyes open, children scream, little feet across the floor.
Groggily getting up, squeals and shouts at the door.
Lights flashing, shadows distorted, shuffling in and out of different rooms,
more sounds fill the air. The big thing just looms.
Paper ripping, cries of glee, a giant flash of white.
Things discovered, happiness to its fullest might,
the sounds fade out into the night.
Back into bed, having acquired new things,
until the next "Ding!"
